Safe Schools? I don't think so.

People should learn from movies that nothing in this world is ever safe. Even words can hurt people as much as a stab to the chest will. Now, how can other schools prevent this tragic event of a student harming other students from happening? I would say putting more security. But the problem is, this school is not known for doing such things or having this occur often. So the real problem was, is that no one cared about this person. She informed other people, including school administrators, about her problem and did nothing about it. So really, if they did something about it then she would not have done this.

Luckily, Mary Ward has services that can help a person who's being bullied. One of them is having school staff you can trust and tell a problem about. For example, guidance counsellors or the principal herself. Another benefit to Ward is that there's a rule where bullying is never allowed. No matter what. And if someone's seen bullying someone or they're informed of such an event then the person who's bullying will be suspended. If done more than once, possibly expelled. Also, the school will inform both parents about this incident and hopefully both parents do something about it. Although this didn't always work, at least they do everything to make the situation better.

I personally don't think that my school needs to improve on anything when it comes to bullying since no bullying has occurred recently. So good job, Mary Ward. Go Wolverines!! Woo.

  1. I agree that Mary Ward is a welcome place and that bullying isn't as terrible a situation here as it is in other schools.

  2. You're right about Mary Ward being a safe place, but sometimes the faculty does not know what goes on because of how afraid students are by bullies, we think that it isn't as terrible but who knows if it is. From personal experience, guidance counsellors don't do much, they say some nice things and let you be free. I mean, that is nice, but the bullying wouldn't really stop from "nice words". The people who are actually capable of making a difference should really do something. Most of the time, people hurt each other with words and nowadays it is as bad as taking a gunshot to the head. Unfortunately, some things aren't even changed and it remains the same, the victim would be afraid of going to school but no one would even notice. But like you said, we go to a safe environment, but everyone else in the world should be able to go out without being harmed
